In the m&i-Fachklinik Herzogenaurach, the list of indications for neurological rehabilitation
measures includes nearly all neurological and neurosurgical diseases and injuries. The neurological
rehabilitation thus represents an essential part of the therapeutic possibilities of modern
neurology.
Patients with the following indications are treated:
- After stroke
(cerebral infarction, cerebral haemorrhage, subarachnoid haemorrhage)
- After craniocerebral
trauma, esp. traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- After neurosurgical interventions and/or
-
Radiation therapy on the brain and the medulla
- After meningitis/encephalitis (inflammation
of the meninx and/or the brain due to any causes)
- After cerebral hypoxia (oxygen deficiency
in the brain, e.g. after cardiovascular resuscitation)
- With Parkinson’s disease and other
extrapyramidal-motor diseases
- With Multiple Sclerosis
- With spinal cord and
medullary diseases (e.g. myelopathy due to spinal canal stenosis, anomalies, syringomyelia,
vascular syndromes)
- With polyneuropathy/polyradiculitis (e.g. Guillain-Barré syndrome,
CIDP, CIAN, polyneuropathies of any etiology)
- With injuries and diseases of peripheral
nervous structures (e.g. brachial/leg plexus damage, damage of individual peripheral
nerves)
- With neuromuscular diseases and myopathies (e.g. ALS=amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,
spinal muscular atrophy, muscular dystrophy, inflammatory muscular diseases)
- With neuropathic or myofascial pain due to conditions and diseases above
The department is an integrated part of the Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases at the FA-University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
